The Magellan eXplorist 610 has been given a release date of October 25th. I for one am very excited to get my hands on this quality Waterproof GPS. As well as being waterproof (IPX7) the eXplorist is very rugged and will last you for many years exploring the outdoors. The eXprorist 610 combines very accurate navigation, easy to read maps and high sensitivity GPS, It also has over 30 navigational data fields. The eXplorist comes with a 3.2 mega-pixel camera and integrated microphone-speaker system. The device comes with expandable memory which is a must have in my opinion on a GPS that allows for photographs, videos and voice memos. As an outdoor enthusiast you will be able to record geo-referenced images and voice notes. The ability to share your outdoor adventures with friends and family is a must these days for any good GPS device and the explorist does this seemlessly through your computer via the USB cable.

The eXplorist 610 comes with The World Edition maps which are some of the most accurate maps you can get, and they allow for 2D or 3D viewing. World Edition maps includes all road networks in The U.S, Canada, Western Europe and Australia. For all other countries woldwide it includes all major road networks. Another great feature of World Edition preloaded maps is the inclusion of rural and urban areas with realistic shaded relief backround.The eXplorist also comes with a highly detailed topographic map (Summit Series). On this topographic map you can search for trails, waterways, points of interest or even the nearest bike shop and much more.. If you use the 3D viewing all these maps make for easy, fun reading and navigating

As with all of Magellan's GPS devices the eXplorist 610 has a long battery life at around 15 hours of normal use. It also has fully customizable power management settings. One other great power saving feature is the suspend mode which allows you to turn off the device but maintain GPS tracking. The eXplorist combines the reliability of two cutomizable hard buttons with the easy to use 3" touch screen.

The device also comes with One Touch favorites menu. Magellan have won awards for this great feature. One touch gives you Instant access to all your bookmarks and favorite places. You will find it very easy to assign a new location each time you start a new adventure into the great oudoors. The Magellan eXplorist 610 comes with 12 preloaded and fully customizable icons which will alow you to save any unique locations you want and also to create and save your personalized searches.
